Is there something you want to get off your chest or something that isn't being discussed on one of the blog topics that you want to tell people about? We have opened this topic for you to chat about anything that you like!
Since my wife died my labrador has been sleeping on my bed,the last few nights have been horrendous ,having me up and down like a yo-yo,consequently I have been up since 3.15,and the dog is sleeping like a baby.

Christabel said the site she thought I meant was Tripadvisor Doug. I couldn't remember the name. None of these people like bad publicity but sometimes the only way to go. Give them a try and hope you have a good outcome.

Barbara I am having little co-operation from EnjoyEngland the website of the English Tourist Board (as was) and have been trying to search for the website you referred to earlier. Do you have any clues that might help me get in contact. I'd like to mention the shortcomings of the cottages we stayed at.

Christabel now you are worrying me, I'm too old for 'invigorating' but I did note that very few people took part in the poll about Alcohol prices in supermarkets. If everybody who took part won a prize there would not be much of a drain on the petty cash.

I'm still here Barbara, we have had a hectic few months of it. Long story..... lost loved ones, poorly pets etc etc. I don't know where the last four months have gone. Anyway I have signed up for the new forum and will try to get involved more in the coming months. Hope all is well with the other regulars and look forward to reading and adding to the blogs.

Yes,as said before,I hope nobody is lost in translation.
I also hope that the new site will be more invigorating?
Posted by: christabel | 06/04/2011 at 10:09
I have signed up to the new site. Just hope more people do as well, we are getting a bit sparse these days! Wonder what's happened to Lavendar, and don't hear much from Denise, and Derek what's happened to him? I often wonder what's happened to these friends we have made through the site, would be nice to hear from them all again.

I hope all the regulars, Doug, Gwen, Barbara, Christobel, I.S and others will sign up for the new My cup of Tea Forum which is replacing This Is My Life panel.

To update on the "mice problem". We have a flat refusal from the Estate who own the cottage for any refund of any part of the money paid. I have contacted EnjoyEngland who bless this cottage with a 5 star rating (which had much to do with our choosing it in the first place) who say they cannot become involved in any customer complaint. They will pass a copy of my complaint to the owners and will bear my comments in mind when their next review of the property takes place. Of course I have already told them of the owners comments re. the mice and it apparently not affecting the 5 star rating but have suggested they send my letter on now, not wait 10 days for me tosay they can. I have also suggested that as a supporting organisation they are as fearsome as a sleeping kitten.

Is there no end to the bailing out of E.C.,now Portugal will get £3 billion from us and the budget is another joke .....but why is the joke always on us.....Grrrrr

No, they use the shaving products to remove their hairy bits!
That's what I was getting at, a scenario where the shaving products are not used by the males.

Old Hippy, surely you are not suggesting that there is a commune out there which celebrates hirsute females in it's midst? I can understand fully, that these "ladies" would want to abolish the furry stuff for fear of becoming "in touch with their masculine sides"...shudder!!
Posted by: christabel | 23/03/2011 at 09:18
Christabel. In our commune all the men have beards and now that the older women are post-menopause most of them have a tendency to grow moustaches and the younger ones shave their armpits and legs, therefore most of the shaving products are used/utilised by women. So I can understand why you were surprised to see the opposite findings in the beauty survey.
:-)

Looking back at the results of the beauty survey,I was very surprised to see that men used shaving products more than women! In fact the reponses to the questions posed were so uninteresting and irrelevant I wondered what was the purpose?

Good morning everyone, I can not believe how far GP practices have deteriorated, throughout Britain it would appear.
I took my doctor to task recently on why he failed to diagnose my late wife's lung cancer, while he continued to treat her for anaemia and iron deficiency, it was the surgery's practice nurse who instigated an immediate x ray that revealed the extent of the disease, but it was like water off a duck's back, he simply evaded a direct answer. The same practice failed to diagnose that my 12 year old grandson is suffering from Psychogenic cough(4 months now)again he had no answer of why his colleague had been unable to recognise the symptoms.
It is obvious that since GP's went into the supertax bracket, their commitment has all but disappeared.

Yes that's the one Christabel. Though someone was complaining about them putting false statements in once.
I understand about mice leaving traces of urine etc around I.S. So they are unsafe that way. Meant I didn't think they were dangerous in attacking people!
Posted by: Barbara | 15/03/2011 at 23:33
Mice have a tendency too run around piddling over everything, not at all harmless. Keep pressing for the refund, Doug, and maybe a bit of 'compen'!

The terrible Japanese disaster being played out before our very eyes is all consuming.
Posted by: christabel | 14/03/2011 at 23:41
"Tripadvisor" is ideal for this sort of thing(is this what you meant Barbara?).
I always read reviews here before settling on a choice of holiday.
Posted by: christabel | 14/03/2011 at 23:37
For some reason I am terrified of mice. I know they are harmless, (well at least I think they are)I'm like Doug's wife wouldn't have been able to stay in the cottage.
Understand there is a web site you can post remarks re holiday accomodation on. Think, if the people who manage these cottages don't give your money back Doug, threaten them with this!! All for a bit of threatning at times!
Posted by: Barbara | 14/03/2011 at 23:28
I.S. well wherever it is the Holiday Cottages we stayed in have mice. My wife does not like them and I made a living working for Rentokil so we left some droppings with the manager and a request for a refund. We're still waiting for the money.

Doug, sorry to read that your holiday has been cut short.
Kirkby Lonsdale is in Westmorland, although it abutts the border with Lancashire.
Posted by: I.S. | 09/03/2011 at 18:30
I.S. as I said elsewhere I have had to return after only 4 days instead of 2 weeks and I am not pleased with the holiday cottage company. By coincidence it was close to Kirkby Lonsdale which is almost unsure which county it is in dependent on which map/advert/leaflet you read about the area. Could be an interesting question for one of your pub quizzes.
Posted by: doug | 09/03/2011 at 17:24
I agree with you.I.S.,I always thought that Monmouth should be English. We are on the borders and not Welsh.
