It has been announced that people in Scotland no longer have to pay for prescriptions which leaves England as the only country in the UK that has to pay. Patients in England are charged £7.40 per prescription. Do you think the government should do something to address this inequality? Do you face high prescription charges?
Sangee...we are the most stupid.

I presume that we, the English, are paying for Scotland's free prescriptions. What's fair about that? Are we also paying towards free university fees for Scots? We are either the most tolerant people in the world or the most stupid!

Time for an English parliament, based in the original capital of Winchester; with the UK government in London greatly reduced in size [say 100 M.P.s elected by proportional representation] and dealing with general economic/fiscal affairs, foreign relations & defence only.

The English are always the losers because we take everthing thrown at us. If this happened in France they would be out on the streets protesting. We pay more for goods more for petrol. Most of the MP's got away with their claims for expenses and what do we do about it all nothing,

I also get free prescriptions, but think it's wrong that English people have to pay, while the rest don't. Why is there this difference? And like Doug, did pay before reaching retirement.

I hasten to add that whilst we may be old, we (that is I) are still paying tax on pensions that we had to pay for whilst working. In fact one pension was done on a contracted out basis (I did not know what that meant at the time) which results in me losing over £70 per week from my State Retirement Pension. That's my contribution to Jock and Jennie's Prescription charges.

As both my wife and I are old we get any prescriptions free now, but we had to pay before. It seems basically unfair to me that all Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland residents get free medicines which presumably are being paid for by our government with our money. They cannot lose can they? It's like playing snap with a man who stutters.
